Epron is located in Normandy, in Caen urban area. As a volunteer you will help local residents become more aware to Europe and to raise their awareness of healthy and eco-responsible lifestyles. Activities will be carried out in the children & young people's activity centre (for 3-17 year-olds), at the "Faitout" social centre (with families), at the secondary school and in support of the association in charge of the city's French-Spanish twinning. Examples of actions supported: organising lunch break activities for children, taking part in teenage parties on several citizenship topics, organising the residents' café at Le Faitout, preparing local events: Festivert (an eco-citizen festival), Christmas market, Carnival, art walk, etc. At the secondary school: supporting pupils initiatives on the theme of food and environmental protection (compost, food waste, orchard), taking part in cookery workshops for adapted education classes, and valorising Erasmus exchanges (GER, UK, IRL, SP).
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
The volunteer shares a flat with 2 volunteers in Hérouville-saint-clair (about 20 mins from Epron & Caen city centre - 30 from the sea). A bike is provided, such as a transport card (giving access to well served local tram and bus networks) and carpooling opportunities to reach the missions’ sites. You are autonomous regarding meals, but costs are covered by the volunteering financial support provided (+ possibility of school canteens with preferential rate). Epron offers more than 20 organisations proposing leisure and sports activities, and an easy access to all Caen city centre services.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
Experimentation with a range of eco-responsible practices: vegetable bins at the leisure centre and secondary school, a shared garden at Le Faitout, organic baskets, collections for reuse, composting, an educational apiary, a hedgehog trail, eco-pasturing, an orchard and vegetable cooking workshops (...). Thanks to a partnerships with Europe Direct, you will also be able to follow training courses on Europe: citizenship, institutions, democratic life, concrete actions, etc. You will be introduced by the host teams to different educational practices: academic, adapted and non-formal.
Dalībnieka profils
We are looking for curious, dynamic and resourceful participants who are very interested in sustainable development and eco-friendly practices (gardening, green cooking). To be comfortable with the missions, the participant should also be creative, adaptable, at ease in public and enjoying intergenerational contact and leading group activities (audiences of all age ranges, especially children and teenagers including pupils with disabilities or school difficulties). Having some knowledge in French will be helpful considering the activities.
