West Nile region and especially its rural parts is considered as one of the regions of Uganda that faces the highest levels of poverty. As a result, these rural communities suffer from practically no access to basic healthcare and preventive services, poor education and high joblessness level due to almost no opportunities for skills development and capacity building. These are the main areas of EMOTER’s operations. You will mostly attend field work with the rest of the team members where our team visits local schools and teach children and teenagers about health and prevention in order to raise new generation who is informed and safe. The main focus of the workshop is nutrition. Hygiene, infections, reproductive health with prevention of STDs and family planning methods.
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
You will stay in our house for volunteers which works like guest house with shared accommodation and equipped kitchen. You will receive pocket money for you day to day expenses. Visa, flight tickets, travel insurance, mandatory and some highly recommended immunizations and antimalarials prevention are covered. We will arrange transport between Entebbe airport and Kampala and then transport between Kampala and Nebbi by car. Our office is not very far from the quest house and volunteers usually just walk there while our driver should take you to schools for edu workshops or we can reimburse you.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
At start you will get app. 4 days on-arrival training from UPA organisation in Kampala about culture, safety, country and its history in order to deep dive more in local settings and minimize cultural difference. In Nebbi you will also get training about your position from local staff of EMOTER while the materials on what you shout teach about are provided and you will have some time to go through it and train yourself.
Dalībnieka profils
We don’t require any previous expertise or experience with educational workshop or teaching but it is an advantage. All materials for the workshop are already prepared and we will explain you everything for the workshop during training and after that you will have approximately 1 week just to study them and prepare yourself. English proficiency and excellence oral and written is a must, User of MS Office, Respect for diversity. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
