The volunteer will contribute to the analysis and advocacy carried out by MdM and its civil society partners to raise awareness of gender-based violence and propose strategic lines of action according to the sectors concerned: Technical support for the framing of gender/human rights advocacy, Participation in various workshops and coordination meetings of protection stakeholders, Dissemination of available services and GBV care data, Contributing to the drafting of projects to improve the services available and access to them for the most vulnerable groups: people on the move/exiles, people with disabilities, people in prison or facing criminal charges; Representing MdM at multi-sectoral gender platforms and meetings, Investigation of existing free services and participation in advocacy for the inclusion of care in the USPEC in a free service supported by the state; Strengthen the skills of key stakeholders involved in preventing and responding to gender-based violence.

The work will take place at the MdM Mauritania office in Nouakchott. The volunteer will then be accommodated in the organisation's guesthouse. It is a quiet city, with several beaches, the general atmosphere in Nouakchott is good. However, it is recommended to be careful when travelling. The restaurants are identified to allow the volunteers to have a varied diet and to eat in good hygienic conditions. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 534 € to cover their food and other expenses.

Volunteers will improve their professional knowledge through training in humanitarian action, and specific issues on security, gender, psychosocial support and will be provided with training resources to continue their learning. Those selected will receive briefings/training at MdM headquarters in Madrid with the different departments related to the mission and the position, as well as mandatory online trainings before they start their field work. Training sessions will take place both in the countries of the support and host organisations.

- Degree in law (international law, human rights, refugee/minority law), gender studies, sociology, public health, social work, international solidarity or equivalent field. Minimum of 3 years' higher education, ideally 5 years. - Proven experience of working with vulnerable groups and/or people in distress and/or minorities/marginalised people. - Certification / significant experience in adult education - Experience of interculturality - Fluent French, excellent oral and written communication skills - Proficiency in Office Pack. Appreciated : - Knowledge of the Arabic language, local Mauritanian languages (Hassanya, Poulard, Soninke, Wolof), Spanish; - Previous experience in West Africa, the Sahel, the Maghreb or the Middle East; - Knowledge of Islamic law;
