Discovering and contributing to the work of the "Fagotin" : Educational Farm and Youth Hostel in a rural area in Wallonia/Belgium

In the middle of a protected area in Stoumont (south of Belgium), the "Fagotin", ecopedagogical center and farm, welcomes you. With us, you'll work and will be involved in all our activities : social tourism (creation of communication tools, point of contact for visiting tourists, support to the kitchen team, help with the bedrooms preparation and the family activities...) ; educational farm (animal care, goat milking and cheese making, workcamp, etc.) ; youth and voluntary work (european projects, participation to a workcamp as a campleader, eventual travels). You'll be in contact with a lot of people : schools, youngsters from the local community, tourists, families with the possibility of practicing your educational talents in French with them by accompanying our team of trainers (17 people). Majoitus, ateriat ja kuljetukset

The "Fagotin" has its own Youth Hostel with 51 beds. Each room has single beds and shared bathroom facilities and shared common spaces. Food expenses are covered. On this basis, the "Fagotin" provides meals from Monday to Friday and gives access to the kitchen during the week-end. The "Fagotin" is located in the rural and remote village of Stoumont. Mobility is reduced since the public transportation is limited. In case of need, transportation between the "Fagotin" and the closest train station can be organized by members of the team. Transportation to come/go to the project is covered.

Koulutus hankkeen aikana

The tasks entrusted to Fagotin's young volunteers are unique in that they are practical and carried out in a professional context with youth and environmental workers. From this experience, the young volunteer will draw a professional and personal baggage in terms of knowledge and know-how while contributing to a meaningful project . The ESC volunteers will also benefit from a campleader training in order to lead a workcamp with international volunteers during the summer.

Osallistujan profiili

The "Fagotin" is looking for 2 volunteers between 17 and 25 years old with a good level in English. Basic level of French is an asset but not compulsory. The volunteers should have the willingness to learn new competencies and improve their language skills. Access to online French courses will be provided. The volunteers should be motivated by living in a rural area, far from the city. Period and duration of the volunteering : two positions of a duration of 6 1/2 months. The Fagotin can host one starting in October 2025 and the other one starting in February 2026.
