CHEERing visits 2-4 refugee camps per week, as well as families living in Athens, to provide hygiene items, clothing, basic public health care and nutrition. We also run several football programs and teams in greater Athens and at the camps, using a holistic approach which provides the players with health support as well as practice and games. A typical week with CHEERing might look like driving a group of kids to the dentist; weighing and measuring babies and children living in the camp; providing head lice shampoos and iron supplements; supporting new mothers with infants; handing out blankets, and cheering on our youth football team in a Greek amateur league. Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
CHEERing’s apartment is located in central Athens. It is a 3 bedroom apartment and each of the 3 volunteers who stays there gets their own room. It has a fully functioning kitchen with washing machine, and 1 bathroom with a shower. Heat, A/C, water and internet are all included at the accommodation. We also cover a basic daily allowance for food.
Profilo del partecipante
Our ideal volunteers have experience in at least one of the following areas: healthcare; working or volunteering with refugee or other underserved populations; coaching and managing sports programs; report-writing, database management. Volunteers should be fluent in basic computer skills such as Microsoft 365. English is required and Arabic, French, Farsi, or Greek are beneficial. We need volunteers who can commit to 10- 12 months. Driving license is a benefit.
