LAST PLACE! Palma Nana Soc Coop is searching two participants to collaborate with CISS, a partner organization, on a 4-month social project in Palermo, Sicily. CISS – Cooperazione Internazionale Sud Sud is a non-governmental organization based in Palermo and has been active in the Global South since 1985. CISS operates in various regions around the world, including Latin America, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Balkans, and Italy. Their mission focuses on promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms, aiming for real, lasting, and human-centered change based on the needs of local communities. In particular, CISS projects are dedicated to supporting women, migrants, and local communities, protecting children, reducing school dropout rates, ensuring service accessibility, and fostering youth participation. The volunteers selected for this project will assist in managing various activities implemented by CISS, according to their skills and expertise.
Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
CISS will host you in a single room in their apartment located in via Marconi n. 2A. Even though your room will be private, you will share the house communal spaces, the bathroom and the kitchen with another volunteer who might not be of the same sex as you- if this could eventually be a problem please let us know in advance so that we can avoid all discomfort. thanks to the food vouchers provided by the organizzation you will be able to eat according to your customs and taste. CISS will be more than happy to provide you with a bycicle to allow you to move freely around town.
Formazione durante l'attività
The participant will participate in the Online Linguistic Support scheme and will be involved in an Italian course of 20 hours with a certified teacher. Moreover they will take part of the trainings managed by the AIG in Rome. CISS will provide a basic training in project planning and management (at least 10 hours) and 10 hours of training on Successful Educational Actions (SEA) and other partecipatory instruments to work with children and students. All the trainings are designed with a theoretical and a practical part, because we believe that learning by doing is the best!

- motivated and opened volunteeer, interested in social challenges - italian and/or french basic knowledge are appreciated but not mandatory - We favor people who easily adapt to all type of challenges and are willing to share and put into use their skills and competences.
