ENGIM, in collaboration with UDAPT (Unión de Afectados y Afectadas por las Operaciones Petroleras de Texaco), work on environmental monitoring in rural communities of Sucumbíos. The project aims to document and analyze pollution levels and assess the socio-environmental impact of extractive industries. Main tasks: - Conduct environmental monitoring activities in collaboration with local communities - Collect and analyze environmental data - Develop georeferenced reports and graphical representations of environmental degradation (GIS software, mapping tools) - Document environmental grievances and collect testimonies on pollution-related health and livelihood impacts - Organize community workshops on environmental awareness and advocacy strategies - Support local stakeholders in interpreting environmental data - Contribute to enhance community-driven monitoring systems - Participate in periodic field visits and community meetings for data collection

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

- Volunteers will be accommodated in a shared apartment or guesthouse in a community near the project area. Basic utilities such as electricity, water, and internet access will be available, though service may be intermittent due to contingencies. - A monthly allowance of €800 will be provided, covering daily expenses, food and local transport. - A laptop will be provided, and reimbursement for mobile phone expenses is included. - Flexible working hours and a combination of on-site and remote work may be available, depending on the autonomy of the volunteer and the schedule of activities.

Formazione durante l'attività

- Pre-departure training on humanitarian principles, security, and program-specific knowledge. - Pre-departure training on environmental monitoring methodologies and community engagement. - On-site induction on security, cultural sensitivity, and project objectives. - Participation in advocacy workshops and capacity-building sessions with UDAPT

Profilo del partecipante

- Education & Training: Degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Social Sciences, or related fields. Additional training in GIS, environmental monitoring, or community advocacy is an asset. - Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in challenging field conditions. Good interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Experience with data collection and reporting tools is a plus. - Language & Technical Skills: Proficiency in Spanish (minimum B2 level required). Knowledge of GIS software and basic data analysis tools is desirable. - Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
