Beschrijving
The volunteer will work as part of the Red Cross program Social Support for Refugees. The program’s main components are different weekly social activities for the target group. Activities currently take place in Reykjavík and in Reykjanesbær. Current activities include a Women’s Group, Youth Club, Open House and Language trainings. The program aims to reduce social isolation and offer a platform to meet, connect, socialize, and learn about Icelandic society. A key element of the Red Cross social support program is involving the community—through volunteering. The Red Cross also runs a volunteering project for Refugees, InterACT. This ESC volunteer will be responsible for two of our weekly activities, Women’s Group and Youth Club. The main tasks are planning and promoting the events, engaging and overseeing the local part-time volunteers who help with events, and building a community around the participants, helping with registrations into our database.
