Disability Inclusion & Empowerment Volunteer (5 - 6 months)

ADRA OPS

ADRA Zambia

Lusaka, Sambia

Beschreibung

In Zambia, nearly 12% of the population lives with a range of disabilities, both visible and non-visible. People with disabilities face a double burden during disasters such as droughts, floods, pandemics like cholera, and human-induced crises like pollution and economic shocks. Climate change further exacerbates their vulnerability. ADRA works to raise disability awareness and remove barriers—physical, social, and institutional—promoting inclusion at all levels in disaster preparedness and response. Through policies, strategies, and partnerships with other actors, ADRA supports meaningful participation of people with disabilities. As a Disability Inclusion & Empowerment Volunteer, you will actively promote inclusion and gender equality in community initiatives, develop awareness-raising toolkits, engage with communities and build databases of people with disabilities, and support inclusive planning in development activities. --- Interviews will take place on an ongoing basis.

Daily transport is mostly by commuter taxis, while for work duties and field visits you will share transport with the ADRA team, with accommodation arranged when needed.
