Volunteering with refugees and asylum seekers in Popoli Insieme, Italy

Beschrijving

The volunteer will be entirely part of Popoli Insieme’s daily activities with the aim of giving an high-level continuous service to the beneficiaries (refugees and asylum seekers). He/She be involved in first reception apartments’ life, visiting and checking them regularly and supporting asylum seekers in daily needs and in their relations with the territory services He/She will also be engaged in the organization of numerous Association events - both institutional and entertaining – taking place along the period of the internship. Sport events within the Association, social activities, gardening and meeting with volunteers are other tasks they will be committed to for a better integration of refugees and asylum seekers. He/She will be trained by social operators who will also coordinate them; Popoli Insieme will adjust assignments and responsibilities to volunteers’s competences and abilities for an effective and productive experience. Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

The volunteer will live in Padova with other international volunteers or local/Italian people, he/she will live in a single or double room upon availability, bathroom and of the common spaces of the house (wi-fi is not always guaranteed). Food, accommodation and pocket money are covered by the programme. He/She will have a bus card to move around in the city. Further specific information will be provided to the volunteer before arrival.

Wat leer je?

We will offer internal Italian course and help the volunteer to find an integrative Italian language course in Padova, if needed. The volunteer will receive specific training about the topic of integration of refugees, participative tools and related topics (legal framework, educative relationship and educative projects, team working, mediation of conflicts)

Wie zoeken we?

Volunteer with different backgrounds such as age, gender, previous experience, study path, and so on will be welcome. A basic knowledge of Italian language will be appreciated. The choice of volunteer will be made on the basis of their motivation, interest in the scope of intervention of the host organization and the willingness to play an active role in their project. In this way it is granted that there will be a positive result both for the volunteer, and for the beneficiaries of the project, as well as for the host organization.
