Green Beats: Penáguila's Nature and Culture Revival
DE AMICITIA
Penáguila, Alicante, Španjolska
Opis
Volunteers will serve as a versatile workforce for the Penàguila Town Hall, executing a wide range of manual and social tasks based on the municipality’s real-time needs. This is an intensive maintenance project focused on the physical recovery of the fire-damaged Jardín de Santos and the Phytoclimatic Route through clearing and technical gardening. Beyond environmental labor, volunteers will act as a maintenance crew repairing public furniture and infrastructure, and executing urban art projects like mural painting. The project also features a vital social component, with weekly intergenerational activities at the local senior center. This holistic approach requires adaptability and hard work, moving beyond symbolic actions to perform real, tangible labor for the village’s upkeep.
Smještaj, hrana i prijevoz
Volunteers will stay in a shared apartment for 12 people, with 6 twin rooms, 2 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, and a washing machine. A bar/restaurant is located directly across from the house, and access to the municipal pool is included. Weekends are free. Food: Provided by De Amicitia. All meals are prepared collectively by volunteers in organized shifts managed by the campleader. Transport: Penàguila is a remote mountain village. The bus only runs once a day, making a car necessary for grocery shopping and essential errands.

Interest in Cultural Exchange: The project includes intergenerational activities, and volunteers should be open to interacting with the local senior community and engaging in cultural exchange with the rest of participants. Flexibility and Adaptability: The project is based in a rural area, and volunteers should be ready to adapt to a different lifestyle and work in varying conditions. Teamwork and Communication Skills: Since volunteers will work closely with others, they should have good teamwork and communication skills.
