Beschrijving

The Rojc Associations Alliance (SUR) is a network of associations located in the Rojc Community Centre (DC Rojc) – a huge former military building from the 1870s that is today one of the most vibrant and creative community hubs in the region. Today, more than 110 associations operate within DC Rojc in the fields of culture, youth, sports, health, social welfare, environmental protection, minority rights, technical culture, and much more. Rojc is a true example of how public spaces can be used inclusively, creatively, and sustainably – by the community and for the community. SUR connects people, ideas, and initiatives. We support participation, cooperation, and active citizenship, especially young people who want to get involved, express themselves, and create positive change – locally and beyond. Through community projects, media, events, and international cooperation, we encourage volunteers to grow, try new things, and become active agents of change, guided by European values.

Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

The volunteers will live in a large apartment close to the volunteering location. Each month, they will receive 550 euros for pocket money, food, and a city bus pass. Pula is an ancient city on the Adriatic coast, and the volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful beaches in their free time, as well as visit rare historical sites dating back to the Roman Empire (the Arena, the Temple of Augustus, etc.).

Wat leer je?

Volunteers in SUR will have the opportunity to receive both formal and non-formal education, as well as to learn through practice and shape their own volunteering experience. Non-formal education includes topics such as nonviolent communication, leadership and organisational skills, human rights and active citizenship, teamwork and cooperation. Informal learning and concrete activities include participating in creative workshops, producing content for Radio Rojc, a community radio with daily programme; developing your own creative project based on your interests and skills; and more.

Wie zoeken we?

Volunteers can be young people aged 18–30 who want to spend six months getting to know the work of civil society organisations in the Rojc Community Centre, and who want to learn more about community involvement in art, culture, and media. It is important to us that they share our values and those of the EU: antifascism, human rights, LGBTIQ rights, minority rights, solidarity, and a culture of nonviolence.
