Nature for everyone

Aukstaitijos nacionalinio parko ir Labanoro regioninio parko direkcija

Meironys, Ignalinos r., Litouwen

Beschrijving

Join us for three weeks in Aukštaitija National Park and help make the Nature School more accessible and welcoming for people with disabilities and other access needs. This is a chance to work outdoors, spend time in nature, learn about Lithuanian culture, improve English skills, be part of a multinational team of 12 volunteers, and contribute to creating a more inclusive environment. The Nature School (Gamtos Mokykla) is a space that offers educational programs and accommodation for groups interested in the park’s natural and cultural heritage. Families, students and school groups, especially children, take part in a variety of activities led by nature specialists and educators. It is located in Meironys, by the lake Lūšiai, in a beautiful pine forest.

Regelingen voor accommodatie, eten, en vervoer

All costs (travel, food, accommodation, health insurance, pocket money) are covered through the European Solidarity Corps grant. Volunteers will stay at the Nature School, in shared rooms with a communal kitchen, showers and toilets. It is about 6 km away from the Ignalina town, which has supermarkets, bus and train stations, a hospital and other services. We will provide lunch and dinner during working days and groceries for other meals, so the volunteers will be asked to organise cooking for breakfast and on weekends by themselves.

Wat leer je?

At the beginning of the project, volunteers will receive a brief introduction to the activities, tasks, and schedule, as well as to the natural and cultural environment of the Aukštaitija National Park. They will also be introduced to the concept of Universal Design and creative thinking techniques, idea sharing and collaboration on ways to make the spaces at and around the Nature School more accessible to everyone. Volunteers will be encouraged to actively learn from each other, reflect on their experiences, and make the most of their time together in nature.

Wie zoeken we?
