Apprentis d’Auteuil is a foundation comprising more than 300 youth centers. Its mission is to welcome, educate, train, and help more than 40,000 at-risk youth find their place in society, as well as to support their families. We help them build self-confidence and open up to the adult world. We develop each young person’s talents and personal skills and help them find their place, both professionally and personally. Your main responsibility will be to provide daily support to young people aged 5 to 20 who are in the care of child protective services. More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Leading games / sport and providing homework help for younger children, as well as workshops (cooking, internship searches, daily life, etc.) and cultural outings for teenagers to help them develop skills
- Learning about and participating in the work of an educational team responsible for children or teenagers in the care of child protective service
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
The volunteer will work at the Saint-Jean “social care home for children,” located in the city of Sannois, about 15 kilometers from Paris.The volunteer will be housed in a private room on site, in a shared apartment with two other people, with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Service vehicles may be loaned to the volunteer if they have a driver’s license, and the site is close to public transportation. As for meals, when the volunteer is working, they will eat with the young people ; otherwise, they will cook in their apartment. Other volunteers are also on site.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
The French national agency responsible for European Civic Service projects will organize two seminars in which the volunteer will be invited to participate. In addition, you will have access to the OLS platform, which offers online training courses in French during your assignment. Apprentis d'Auteuil will organize an orientation day for new employees. The volunteer will participate in educational team meetings and will have a weekly meeting with her mentor. Participation in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes is possible.
Dalībnieka profils
We are looking for a dynamic, caring person who is open to intercultural experiences and enjoys working in a team and interacting with young people. Experience in youth leadership, education, sports, cultural activities, or working with young people is a plus. The volunteer must be a good listener, adaptable, and committed, and must be fluent in French. A volunteer with experience in leading activities or who is studying to become an educator would be a plus.
