Join STARRY – ESC Humanitarian Aid and spend six meaningful months supporting rural communities in Nepal.
You will work alongside local people and contribute to activities focused on children’s development and protection, women’s empowerment, life skills, education, digital literacy and community development.
Following the recent devastating floods, many families are still facing difficult circumstances. While volunteers will not enter restricted disaster areas, the hosting organisation is supporting affected people with basic needs such as food and accommodation, and volunteers may assist these solidarity efforts when needed.
We are looking for committed, adaptable and open-minded volunteers ready to embrace simple living conditions, a different culture and real community work.

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
Volunteers will stay at ViN’s NaraTika Community Learning Center in Okhaldhunga. Accommodation is simple and basic, in shared gender-separated dorm rooms with bunk beds, bed linen, blankets and pillows. The center has shared toilets and showers with hot and cold water, kitchen, dining and living areas. Three meals per day, mainly based on Nepali cuisine, and safe filtered drinking water are provided. The working site is within walking distance. Internet can be limited and occasional power cuts may occur; mobile data can be used.
Formazione durante l'attività
ViN provides a 3–5 day orientation programme to prepare volunteers for their activities and life in Nepal. Training covers ViN’s work and local communities, Nepalese culture, health and safety, basic Nepali language, practical arrangements and cultural adaptation. Volunteers also receive project-specific orientation, including guidance for community support and post-flood relief and recovery activities. The programme helps volunteers work safely, respectfully and effectively with local communities.
Profilo del partecipante
For Individual Volunteering, candidates must be 18–35 years old and legally reside in an eligible country (EU Member States, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Türkiye). Applicants must have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and must not have previously participated in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. The total duration of this activity together with previous participation in EU volunteering programmes cannot exceed 12 months.
We are looking for motivated, responsible and open-minded volunteers who are ready to commit to the full 180-day activity. Candidates should be adaptable to simple living conditions and interested in working closely with rural communities. An interest or experience in education, child development, women’s empowerment, digital skills or community work is an advantage. Volunteers should be respectful of local culture, willing to learn, share their skills and work as part of a team. Flexibility, initiative and genuine motivation for community-based volunteering are essential.
