Volunteering activities in Stray Shelter at Kavala Greece

This project objective is to protect and promote the activities of the shelter for the stray animals. Since volunteering is deeply incorporated in the organization, the need for this volunteering project is based on the desire to help animals for a better life, to help them be adopted by the right family and to be taking well for the rest of their lives. The specific competences the volunteer will develop through the activity: Knowledge - To learn how to take care of stray animals when they are injured. To learn how to involve local society. To learn tools and techniques to design and implement Bazaars, Infodays and activities related to the care of animals. To learn how to make videos. To get trained on project management tools and techniques. Skills - To develop researching, media and communication skills. To improve their organization skills. Attitudes - To change attitude and be more responsible. To replicate such work at their local environment.

Ubytování, stravování, doprava

Accommodation: You will stay in the village Kokkinohoma, the accommodation will be provided by the organization. Kokkinohoma it’s 12 km from Kavala and 3 km from Eleftheropoulis. Kavala had been one of the most significant cities of Northern Greece since antiquity, with rich history and important economic activity. Food: Food will be provided but for something more you can find several markets in a short distance Transportation: We provide flight travel money up to 360€ to flight back and forth. We ensure your transportation for all activities

Odborná příprava během činnosti

Upon arrival, Pythia has designed and developed an on-arrival training session for volunteers to help them quickly adjust within the organization and their new working and living environment. The volunteers will receive appropriate task related support and guidance to enable them fulfills their role and carries out their tasks. In addition, Pythia organization supports Greek and English language training (in situ or e-learning), free of charge for the volunteers, for long term project durations.

Profil účastníka

Pythia is wide open to young people from 18 - 30 years old, regardless of background, competences or experience, with an interest in learning by doing and eager to have new experiences, meet new cultures and live like a local for the volunteering period. We want people who find motivation in tasks and activities given to them regardless of their expertise, so we are actually looking for participants who are willing to develop themselves and move forward with new capabilities.
