Volunteering in a refugee centre

Beskrivelse af aktiviteten

“I Girasoli” is a NGO involved in solidarity and support towards refugees and migrants. Volunteers will support the following activities: support for after-school activities, the implementation of the ludo-bus project for making small artistic events, support in recreational activities aimed at the children of young mothers or migrant couples; support in the management of volunteering camp in an almond grove confiscated from the mafia; support in communication activities: promotional posts/videos and photos; participating in promotional events on EU programmes organised by the host/coordinating organisation. Logi, mad og transport

Volunteer will be hosted in double-room shared with another volunteer, within the reception centre. Volunteers will share their daily life with young people hosted by the organisation. Reception centre is equipped with all needed (water, electricity, heating, furniture). Free wi-fi is available. Food is provided by the centre and volunteers will cook together with the others.

Oplæring under aktiviteten

On arrival training and Mid-Term Evaluation organised by Italian National Agency + Online Linguistic Support (Italian language)

Deltagerens profil

Aged 18-30; strong motivation for working with children and young people; ability to team working, open-minded, sociable, creative, interest in multiculturalism; artistic skills (e.g. juggling, drawing, playing musical instruments) and digital skills are welcome (i.e. Photoshop or other graphic software, video-editing, MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point); flexibility on moving in different places for the activities and, if needed, possibility to change accommodation (periodically or for few days) in order to respect the activity plans; ready to live in small village.
