ESC 2022/2023 – Meet me in the library

Deskrizzjoni tal-attività

The volunteers cooperate in the project Meet me in the library. They prepare language lessons, create and upload comprehensive materials and homework for students on the blog. They teach different groups: seniors, children, teenagers, advanced groups of adults, beginner students, mums that come to the library with their babies. They have a great opportunity to promote German, Spanish, French and Italian culture – not only by teaching their mother tongue (and English for beginners) but also by organizing and taking part in many cultural events in the library and implementing their own projects. Stories about EVS volunteers’ activities in the Library and everyday life in Krakow can be found on their blogs: rajskabookworms.wordpress.com. The volunteer also will be responsible for helping with: organization of events and exhibitions, reading-room technical stuff tasks and computer data bases operating, user service, searching for new titles suited to the library profile.

Akkomodazzjoni, ikel u arranġamenti tat-trasport

Youth Development and Integration Association STRIM is responsible for practical arrangements. Volunteer will live with other volunteers in the apartment. S/he will share the room with other volunteers (rooms for 2 sometimes 3 persons) close to the city center. The kitchen and bathroom will be shared with other flatmates. The room will be equipped with basic furniture and kitchen equipment. You don't need to bring your own things, like cutlery, plates, etc. However, the volunteer should take the bed-cloths. Local transport: Volunteer will get the bus and tram card in Krakow.

Taħriġ matul l-attività

Weekly meetings with the coordinator, periodic meetings with host organization’s staff , mid-term and final survey evaluation meetings with the staff will help the volunteers to feel comfortable and improve their abilities. It will also help us to monitor their projects and support them. Moreover, the volunteers' projects will be supported by a coordinator and mentor from the Coordinating Organization who will be involved in the most of the logistic issues. Another level of support will provide the Hosting Organization where we have the coordinator of the volunteers work.

Profil tal-parteċipant

The volunteer should be open-minded, responsible, creative and emotionally mature. S/he will be giving classes, preparing and uploading comprehensive materials and homework for his/her students on the blog, teaching his/her native language and culture and English for beginners; taking pictures and digital image processing; organize cultural meetings, user service. Before classes s/he will be preparing the classroom, presentations, teaching aids etc. The volunteer will write posts on the blog on their activities, prepare reports and statistics in Excel, a lot of work on a computer.
