Opis aktivnosti

MAS Marc Toussaint is a non-profit organization located in Reims, a city of 200 000 inhabitants. It lodges and accompanies disabled people having a physical handicap with an intellectual deficiency for all the habits of the everyday life. All inhabitants are adults, most of them are dependent for the everyday life movements, some can easily communicate, others communicate in a non-verbal way. None of the residents have mental handicap but they have a motor disability accompanied by a light or a medium intellectual deficiency. Thus, the cases of handicap can be very different. Moreover, volunteers will work together with the animation team, thus, they will be involved in a support role and in the implementing leisure activities but not in the health care or professional tasks. Smještaj, hrana i prijevoz

Volunteers will live in the organisation’s appartment with their own room. This apartment has a separate access from the disabled people accommodation. Volunteers will get one meal with the residents and employees during the worktime. Besides that, money will be received for local public transport and food

2 trainings ("on-arrival training" and "mid-term-evaluation")

Profil sudionika

Volunteer should be patient, empathic and responsible. S/He should like to help others and be willing to work with disabled people. Volunteer should be ready to take initiatives as well as have a good capacity to adapt. Basic knowledge of French is very helpful. The volunteer has to know that some handicaps can be impressive or frightening at the beginning. The volunteer has to be ready to support the disable people for some daily life activities.
