Gaziantep Eğitim ve Gençlik Derneği (GEGED) is one of the biggest and most active non govermental youth and education assoiction South East of Turkey, Gaziantep city. It was established in 2007 by a group of activist young people. Since then more than 2000 hundred young people joined the mobility projects of the organisation and it has hosted many Erasmus+ projects such as volunteering and youthxchanges, The most popular activities of GEGED are campaigns for European awareness active citizenship and democracy, environmental awareness workshops and education for children, youth and adults with fewer opportunities.
After the Syrian conflict GEGED changed many things on its structure and started to help the wellness and education of Syrian Migrants. Our city is one of the entry point for Syrians and more than 350 Thousand home seekers, %16,80 of the population is Syrian now. We are organising solidarity campaigns for integration of migrants and providing learning opportunities for migrant’s children, youth and adults. Meanwhile we are cooperating with directorate of education and directorate of youth services and NGOS oriented in refugees. We are assisting schools in neighbourhood and organising non-formal learning events for students in their problems of motivation and early school leaving issues. We have got 5 professional staff for management and coordination 5 youth trainers and more than 100 local volunteers in field.
The team of GEGED is experienced in reaching target groups, involving volunteers to solidarity actions, creting networks and help societies in thier social and educational problems.
