Opis organizacije

Rota Jovem is a non-profit youth association based in Cascais, that promotes and supports activities for young people. Our mission is to contribute to the promotion of active citizenship among youth, in order to participate in the construction of a society with more conscious, socially committed, participative and creative citizens. We intend to have a society in which young people have the space to create a supportive and inclusive future through creative participation, peer learning and non-formal education. We want to enable young people to realise their dreams.
We have been operating since 1992 at a local, national and international level, focussing our promotion on the topics of youth participation, social inclusion, European values, volunteering, active citizenship and youth entrepreneurship.
Our international projects cover a wide range of activities such as youth exchanges, training courses, EVS/ESC, international internships (former Leonardo da Vinci Programme) and international workcamps, collaborating with civil society organisations and public bodies. Rota Jovem is partner of IYNF (International Young Nature Friends), FNAJ (National
Federation of Youth Associations); CPCJ Cascais (Commission for Protecting Children and Youth in Cascais) and it is actively involved in the “No Hate Speech Movement“ and in the local projects “Orienta.Te” and “Take.It” for disadvantaged youngsters, which has been developed in the framework of the National Programme “Escolhas” and financed by the National Programme for Children and Youth.
At local level, we are developing projects on Human Rights Education; Education for Citizenship, Sustainability and Creativity. We organize workshops, sessions in schools, and study visits. Our weeks are always different, since there are always different activities happening.
Currently there are 3 full-time workers in Rota Jovem. The association counts with the active participation of the local and national volunteers, as well as of and local and international trainees and the board.
