Circus Central is an organisation that aims to deliver effective circus training to youth and adults. We aim to work with schools in an outreach environment to introduce and up skill young people in circus, performing art, physical pursuits and cultural diversity. We also have a large community of young people and adults who are frequent visitors to our building in Newcastle and undertake trainings, social events and creative projects that flow outwards into our community. Our regular youth targeted activities include the Newcastle Youth Circus for those aged 10-16, a circus in schools programme as well as a Unicycle Club for young people. From these groups we have a more progressive training programme for dedicated and advancing students known as the Five Ring Circus.

Circus Central also provides a healthy programme of adult, emerging artist and professional training programmes which include circus fitness training (Aerial Fitness and Handtstand Conditioning) which are delivered by core members of the Circus Central Mentor team, as well as inviting other circus artists in to deliver courses and masterclasses in aerial arts and acrobatics. Circus Central's in house training programme regularly provides intensive training sessions for young people and as an integral part of this are rehearsal and performance opportunities on both the small scale and large scale at regular public and private events.
Circus Central works in close conjunction with partner organisation Let's Circus. Let's Circus provides professional opportunities towards the mostly community based objectives of Circus Central

As an organisation with a community development focus, Circus Central places great value on volunteering, and on the life-long learning of young people and adults. Our regular activities are designed to educate through practical experience and our work gives participants access to mentors to guide them through new experiences. Our staff and participants receive experiences that link local to regional, national, European and international scales.

In addition to working with Let's Circus, we keep a strong network of companies to collaborate to encourage further training and performance opportunities. These include Juice Festival, HANG Aerial Dance, Bare Toed Dance Company and Walk the Fire.
There is an important sense of community established within Circus Central with an intergenerational group of people playing, training and most recently performing together.

Circus Central has been involved with several European partnership projects as part of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme, Youth in Action, etc.
