Lunaria is a not for profit organization, with more than 600 members, and 15 staff employees. Lunaria, since 1992, has been developing a wide European network to sustain its intercultural activities and its programmes for youth participation and active citizenship, such as voluntary service, non formal education activities and youth exchanges. As stated in the Article 3 of its Statute, Lunaria recognizes itself in the principles of justice and social and economic solidarity; democratic participation in community’s life; civil, social and human rights promotion.

Its European network is composed by sister organizations, mainly targeting young citizens, involved in common programmes: voluntary service, improvement of youth work, intercultural exchanges, social innovation initiatives and inclusion strategies and actions. The individual members are mainly youngsters, who actively take part to decision making process. The association targets youth with disadvantages and disabilities, young migrants and those living in isolated areas.
Lunaria is member of several networks and coordinate intergenerational and voluntary service programmes, campaigns and platforms.
Lunaria is active in the European Solidarity Corps programme since its preparation phase, as stakeholder invited to hearings and consultations and afterwards took part to the newly established programme with Team volunteering projects, sustaining local communities in Italy.
