Wrocław Public Library was founded in 2000. It is a cultural institution constituted by The City Council of Wrocław. Wrocław Public Library coordinates and manages a chain of 38 public libraries. It is a place of exchanging documents, services and information and the activating institution inviting creative environments to cooperate.

MEDIATEKA
Mediateka is the library located in the centre of Wrocław. Our target group are clients at the age 21-45. We promote wide diversity of languages by organizing discussions in foreign languages and organizing Polish lessons for foreigners (Language Café project started by our EVS volunteers in 2016) and getting involved in “Wrocław na Językach Świata” project (Polish for foreigners lessons ran by volunteers and coordinated by Wrocław Integration Centre). Furthermore, we organize meet-the-author sessions (individual and within The Month of Meet-the-author Sessions – the annual event promoting literature of Poland and the honoured guest country). Our another project is the travel festival Zero Parallel (devoted to another continent every year and to Africa in 2018; within this occasion following events take place: meetings with travelers and authors, workshops, lectures about culture and customs). An important project is also Human Library, which has been carried out since 2007. Its aim is to promote European values by cultivating the attitude of understanding and respect towards minorities. We organize Human Library in cooperation with Diversia Association (the Polish coordinator of Human Library) and 35 volunteers representating minorities and socially excluded groups.
In Mediateka we break stereotypes about libraries. Here music plays all day long. We lend not only books, but also comics, music CDs, films, audiobooks and board games. We offer access to ebooks (for mobile devices - Legimi database containing fiction; for PC – Ibuk Libra database containing popular science ebooks). We are cultural institution of great openness. We propound various ways of spending time in friendly atmosphere. We apply new methods to reach our guests and promote the culture. We create and organize location-based games ( using mobile applications) that attract hundreds of participants who previously were not library’s clients. Our partners in literature gamification are the authors and the publishing houses. Our main aim is to create a space friendly to young people, so they could exchange their thoughts and beliefs, carry their own projects out and develop their passions and interests. We are an important spot at the Wrocław’s map. Here EVS volunteers will develop their skills and key competentions due to cooperation on various projects and meet interesting people.

CBK FAMA
The FAMA Library and Cultural Center is a branch of the Municipal Public Library in Wroclaw located in Psie Pole - one of the peripheral districts of Wrocław, until nowadays considered to be dangerous. Psie Pole is currently undergoing a revitalization process, its market has been renewed, communication with other parts of the city has been improved. The new investment - the FAMA Library and Cultural Center is an element of revitalization of the district and the role of the Center is to fill the gap in cultural and social activities in Psie Pole. We are the only regional cultural institution that has professional, infrastructural facilities. The district is inhabited by people who identify with it, want to build a local community and actively work for it. From the very beginning, the CBK FAMA team focused on the implementation of local activities, taking into account the opinions of the residents of the district. Residents emphasize that so far the majority of interesting cultural events took place in the city center, which strongly excluded them from participation. As a local library and cultural institution, we feel the duty to create a high-quality program that meets the recipients' needs. CBK FAMA has been opened since November 2016 and combines a local culture center and library in one building. The Center is located, where earlier was a Fama Cinema. New Culture Center is a combination of tradition related to the functioning of cinema with a variety of creative education in the field of literature and a modern circus. Activities in the field of cultural education are the priority of the institution. A wide range of activities for children, adults and seniors (including: circus-theater, vocal-acting, manual-literary, art, multimedia, instrumental and dance laboratories) take into account the interdisciplinary nature of cultural disciplines and encourage creative exploration, artistic exchange and acquire new skills. CBK FAMA is providing the long-term strategy of the New Circus Center, that proposes modern circus theater classes, artistic residences, production of modern performances, amateur and master performances, presentation of modern performances and the Cyrkopole festival.
