Alter Ego Ngo is a volunteer organization based in Northern Greece, Thessaloniki. It specializes in fields such as art, culture, environmental issues, social inclusion, and human rights support and promotion.
Alter Ego Ngo regularly hosts activities for the youth and organizes different workshops, such as Greek language courses, based on non-formal education methods and international events, such as movie nights or international dinners, in an attempt to encourage integration and liberation.
Our project Bikes in action aims to promote the daily use of bikes in the city of Thessaloniki. Via bikes and e-bikes that we lend for a short time to citizens and youngsters we want to inform them about the benefits of the use of bikes in our life, for our health and for the environment too via the tool of the ecological footprint.
Also, we will set up a free service or bikes and reparation via the municipality and our organization. Bikes and be reformed, painted, repaired, and given back to use to the citizens and give additional value to the principles of solidarity and the quality of life of citizens.
Waste reduction via organic food that still does not happen in Thessaloniki and in Greece in general. We will implement workshops to reduce our waste, promote recycling and alternatives ways of use of garbage. The new device of home Biogas that we will promote too via our volunteers was supported by the European project of Horizon 2020 and gives clean energy from the waste of organic food.

Also as we involve in our project and activities many youngsters with disabilities as deaf and hard of hearing, we support social entrepreneurship and social economy as we are part of the network of social supermarkets and we motivate youngsters with fewer opportunities to enter the job market via these social enterprises. The European solidarity corps is the first step for them to be independent and organize this life away from their family.
Alter Ego promotes and supports any kind of mobilities as itself participates in many European programs, such as the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), youth exchanges, training courses, and seminars.
We focus on informing young people about various European seminars and programs during Erasmus¬ Plus and ESC information and testimonies sessions as well as encourage them to apply their talents in everyday life and in the job market. Moreover, we organize activities in our offices with youngsters with fewer opportunities and youngsters with disabilities such as deaf, hard hearing, and blind people and we motivate them to participate in different European projects not only as participants but as decision-makers in the activities, too.
