EOS-Erlebnispädagogik e.V. is a pedagogical organization with an anthroposophical background founded in 2002. Its head office is in Freiburg im Breisgau, where approximately 40 employees work. EOS is a non-profit-making incorporated association and a state recognized agency for youth welfare.At its founding EOS took on the duty of forming a nucleus for a new culture of experience. The vision of EOS – as one of the leading institutions in experiential learning – is to oppose the continuing decline of the ability to experience in our modern achievement-oriented society. We live in a time in which performance counts more than liveliness, career comes before children, and "duty" has a better sound than "inclination". But our society needs more if it wants to keep a human face. It needs people who go "voluntarily" about what their duties demand as a mere "must". The world would be impoverished if there were not enough people willing voluntarily to do more than their duty.With a pioneering synthesis of experiential pedagogy and Waldorf education (“Erlebenspädagogik”) EOS Erlebnispädagogik e.V. contributes with a proven concept that relies on direct experiences to educate and support young people. School trips and holiday camps for hundreds of pupils every year are part of the program of EOS. To carry them out EOS runs two guesthouses and training centers in Allerheiligen in the Black Forest and in Leiselheim/Kaiserstuhl.The association includes the “Experiential Institute” (Institut für Erlebenspädagogik), which offers special training for experiential (outward bound) educators, seminars and trainings for teams and executive officers for all kinds of companies. Several institutions, like the Association of Free Waldorf Schools and the Pedagogic Section of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum, Dornach (CH) support the work of the Institute.Since 2009 EOS has been organizing the mentorship, formation and counselling of young volunteering adults in Germany and in foreign countries. Alone in Germany EOS is in charge of over 300 volunteers in around 170 establishments. At the moment EOS has partner organizations in France, Great Britain, North America, Swiss, Poland, Portugal and other countries. Since summer 2014 there are approximately 100 volunteers in service in those countries.
