Gulbene 1st pre-school is the oldest kindergarten in the town which has been operating since 1959. The pre-school is located in the very center of the town. 90 - 120 children of Gulbene town and nearest villages visit PII every day. It has 34 employees. Kindergarten is structured as follows:
- 6 groups,
- pre-school training of 5 and 6 year olds in 2 groups,
- 2 groups are for children from 1 to 3 years.
Kindergarten implements the general pre-school education program and includes:
- comprehensive preparation for school, developing in each child an awareness of the "I" concept and taking into account the specific development of each child,
- development of cultural skills, communication and collaboration capabilities,
- maintaining and strengthening health,
- acquisition of moral values ​​and ethical norms,
- awareness of national affiliation, acquisition of folk traditions and folklore.
The program is supplemented by: a folk dance group, an English class group, the opportunity to attend preparatory classes in art and music schools, logarithmic elements in sports and music lessons. Children with speech impairments are taught by a speech therapist. Kindergarten provides the environment, material base and professional assistance for the acquisition of the pre-school education program at the appropriate level for the child and has established successful cooperation with Gulbene Library.
