The Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Poland was formed in 1949 by Jews living in Poland and its current name was introduced in 1991. The UJRCP’s headquarters are in Warsaw. There it operates a synagogue, a kosher canteen, a senior citizens club, a nursery and kids club, a Jewish school and a kindergarten, and the Jewish Welfare Department with its Volunteer Center. The UJRCP serves the needs of all members of the Jewish Community in Poland, works on the preservation and promotion of the Jewish heritage, and promotes intercultural, interreligious and intergenerational dialogue.
Through the Jewish Welfare Department the UJRCP offers its members financial support, material aid, medical assistance, home and nursing care, legal assistance and assistance of the volunteers. It provides services to over 400 households. Variety of Welfare Department activities, including social and communal, and educational, is dedicated to Holocaust survivors, many of whom are lonely, chronically sick or disabled, socially disadvantaged people or people with disabilities, as well as ‘Righteous Among the Nations’.
