A szervezet leírása

ASF works for reconciliation and peace, with a special interest in the meaning of history in contemporary society and how this meaning can be used to promote diversity and encourage respect and understanding of human rights. As a coordinating organisation we mainly host long-term volunteers in Belgium, and is also interested to send young Belgian people to Germany. ASF organises seminars for each generation of volunteers, offering the opportunity to meet and enjoy peer support, reflect on their inter-cultural experiences in a relaxed and non-formal learning environment and to discuss active European citizenship and democracy, as well as how to develop a common vision of future European society based on shared values of freedom and solidarity. The volunteers work in projects related to the history of the Second World War and in social projects, supporting and working with people who frequently face social exclusion and marginalisation, such as people with disabilities as well as with Holocaust survivors. The volunteers work with groups of people in the fields of inter-cultural and inter-generational learning, social dialogue and equal opportunities, with the aim of developing well-rounded European citizens with a lifelong commitment to critical thinking and upholding common fundamental values as a means to preventing radicalisation amongst young people across the continent. ASF Belgie/Belgique vzw is the Belgian partner of Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste (ASF).
