We are ADAPA Foundation for persons with Autism and other developmental disorders; situated in Gdynia, Poland. We are a non-public organisation with main statutory objective to conduct activities for adult people with Autism and other developmental disorders and their family. We accomplish this goal through getting involved in entirety of activities connected to education, rehabilitaion, social care, and therapy of people with Autism Spectrum and other developmental disorders. We also try broaden the society's knowledge on Autism Spectrum and other developmental disorders, as well as therapy methods. We act in order to assure occupational and social activation of person with Autism and other developmental disorders. The Foundation is a basis for the Occupational Therapy Workshops (OTW). Activities in the OTW are lead in seven workshops: applied art, everyday life, informatics, miscellaneous, priting and graphics, social communication, and social independence workshop.Therapy within the therapeutic groups is designed to train occupational and social skillls of our participants in the most practical manner. Classes at the Occupational Therapy Workshop are held from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 15:00. Workshops are attended by 33 adults with intellectual disabilities. Occupational and social rehabilitation is the main focus. Participants, apart from classes on the premises of workshop, also practice apprenticeship, take part in socialization exits as well as economic training. Through our interest clubs we are able to guide occupational and social activation, where our participants can pursue their passions. We offer percussion lesssons, ballroom dancing classes, therapeutic drama, basketball and the Club of City Explorers. Each club is directed by a professional insctructor and is supervised by a therapist. Moreover, we offer diagnosis for both adolescents and adutls with Spectrum of Autism and other developmental disorders. We also offer spacialist consultations on functional specificity of Person with Autism Spectrum and other developmental disorders, including expertise on behavioral disorders. We also offer dietician's, psychologist's, sexologist's and therapist's consultations. Whenever needed we organise and conduct trainings for parents and teachers on diagnosis, functional specificity of person with Autism Spectrum (Asperger Syndrome and Autism), therapy and adjunctive therapies (such as "Social Story" - narrative techniques). We also cooperate with non-governmental organisations and other bodies which act for people with disabilities in order to broaden on the subject. We also try to help our participants in entering the labour market. The Foundation also cooperates with the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Gdans, where we actively exchange our experiences and try to provide solutions to dilemmas in matters of conducting therapy on people with Autism Spectrum and other developmental disorders.
