Opis organizácie

KFUM og KFUK i Esbjerg (YMCA/YWCA in Esbjerg) is founded to run meaningfull leisure activities for children and young people at an educative basis and in a way where the needs of children and young people are met. This objective is achieved through activities where it is important for us as an organization to be counterculture in accordance with the purpose of the YMCA and YWCA in Denmark. The activities are primarily aimed at children and young people. Our youth basement is open after school every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for children and young people who are experiencing difficulties and we arrange sleep-overs for teens monthly, besides that we have got a programme for young adults, events and camps for teens and kids and a social entrepreneurship project involving bicycle fixing. Our most famous flagship activity is our non-alcoholic disco which we do every second Friday with an average of 300 children between 11 and 13 years. This gives the organisation a huge contact to children and youth in the area of Esbjerg. Besides that we have bigger and smaller projects according to the needs of the users and volunteers of the organisation.Since August 2013 we have had a cooperation project with YMCA Escamp in The Netherlands. We do different crime prevention events in close cooperation with the local SSP (which is a municipal collaboration unit made by the local police, the Child and Youth Administration, Social Services Department, Culture and Leisure Department and the Employment and Integration Administration and Prison and Probation Service). Our main target group are teenagers (13-19 years old) and we have 91 members, 400 disco members and even more users, who use our free offers like the afternoon club etc. Openness, development and commitment are high priorities for us. We therefore appreciate the unique value in every person, young or old, who enters and thereby also let their past be their past.
