Biržai regional park was established in 1992 in order to preserve the Lithuanian karstic region landscape, its natural ecosystem and the cultural heritage, to manage them and to use rationally.Objectives of Biržai regional park are the following:• to save landscape with the largest karstic sinkholes density acted by karstic undermining processe;• to preserve values of cultural heritage;• to preserve stability of natural ecosystems, biota components, as well as the unique wildlife and plants;• to restore destroyed and damaged natural, cultural complexes and facilities;• to carry out investigations and observations, to accumulate information in environmental, cultural heritage protection and other scopes;• to create the conditions to increase cognitive tourism and leisure in certain areas and locations identified in regional park planning scheme (management plan);• to regulate economic activities and development of urbanization under the regional park planning scheme (handling plan);• to carry out educational and cultural activities to promote the natural and cultural heritage and its protection.
- Din l-organizzazzjoni hija akkreditata biex tmexxi proġetti taħt il-Volontarjat Erasmus+ u l-Korp Ewropew ta’ Solidarjetà.
- Din l-organizzazzjoni għandha Tikketta tal-Kwalità tal-Korp Ewropew ta’ Solidarjetà. It-Tikketta tal-Kwalità tiċċertifika li l-organizzazzjoni tista’ twettaq proġetti f’konformità mal-prinċipji u l-objettivi tal-Korp Ewropew ta’ Solidarjetà.
