Aluksne Children and Youth Center (ACYC) is an educational institution established by Aluksne municipality in 2002. ACYC aims to promote children and youth initiatives, participation in public decision making and social life and development of knowledge, skills and positive attitudes according to their age, needs and interests. The main fields ACYC is working in are:
1)Youth work-providing information, facilitation of youth iniciatives and non-formal learning activities (for and in cooperation with youngsters organizing workshops, training courses, youth forums, youth days, voluntary work and other initiatives aimed to achieve active youth participation)
2) Interest education and free time activities for children and youth (there are around 450 participants every year involved in various regular hobby groups (theatre, folk-dances, modern dances, singing, drums, LEGOrobotics, guitar classes etc. in age 6-19) and 50 youngsters who are involved in event and initiative organizing). The Centre is organizing summer camps and different creative workshops for children, concerts and other events
3) Coordinating youth work in Aluksne district
4) Coordinating local, nacional and European level projects.
In adition ACYC provides open space for youth and non-formal groups to spend their free time by playing table-tennis, novus, other table games, using internet access, planning and organizing their initiatives.
Without youth work ACYC also wants to help community growth by cooperating with organizations, NGOs' in Aluksne district and actively involving in common cooperation projects, giving information about project opportunities.
