The Fédération des Organisations Laïques de l'Indre (FOL) is a large organisation in non-formal education in the department of Indre, located in center France. It gathers 355 local organisations in the field of education (long life learning), youth, educational leisure activities, sport, environment and sustainable development, european citizenship and international solidarity.
The FOL holds one youth service, called Relais Brenne Initiatives Jeunes, in the south of the department which is very rural. This youth service is situated in the Natural Regional Park of Brenne.
This youth service supports teenager's and youngster's projects (11-25 years old). 3 youth workers take part in this youth service. It aims at helping young people living in rural areas to take initiatives in implementing their own projects. It also helps them to take part in local projects in their life area to apply their citizenship. Besides, many projects have been developed for 10 years (cultural trips, discovering of the Natural Regional Park, fishing trips, visiting Paris etc) . The service is also a youth information office and holds a housing service for people between 16 and 30 years old.
That service is nomade, it means that the youth leaders go to the youngsters, where they are : at school, in villages, youth institutions... Then they help them to find a project (with a special game for this) and support them to organise it. This kind of intervention is the only way to make the service reachable by all young people here because there is no way to move except car (no public transport at all).
The Relais Brenne Initiatives Jeunes organises also summer camps, film making workshops, voluntary work.
The youth service works with 4 schools in the Regional Park : 3 secondary schools and one high school, where the youth leaders have office hours every day between 12am and 1pm.
And well the Relais Brenne Initiatives Jeunes wants to give the opportunity to the young people to increase their european citizenship and exchange with young people from other countries. So youth exchanges are organized each year, the FOL36 sends and hosts Volunteers (EVS and ESC from 2019), and it has organized mobilities for youth professionals in 2016 and 2018 in Croatia.
