Opis organizacije

Espace Culturel Grande Région is an association of the cultural authorities of the Greater Region (Lorraine-Champagne-Ardennes-Alsace (FR), Wallonie (BE), Saarland (DE), Rheinland-Pfalz (DE) & Luxembourg) for the purpose of fostering the implementation of a concerted cultural policy. Espace Culturel Grande Région was founded in April 2008 under Luxembourg law in the aftermath of the successful cultural cross-border cooperation during the European Cultural Year. The Association has established a common office and a common budget for the development of common actions as defined in the work programme. This programm is focussed on the motivation, development and guidance for cross-border cultural projects, the promotion of the Greater Region as an attractive cultural area, and the creation of common spheres of activity between the areas of culture, education and tourism. We, the partners of Espace Culturel Grande Région, are well aware of the challenge posed by cross-border collaboration. However, we are fortunate to be working with creative people who are able to transcend these barriers. In the final analysis, the Greater Region offers us the opportunity to be pioneers in European collaboration. In this perspective we would like to begin a new project within the context of the European Voluntary Service. We are a small cross-border staff consisting in one general secretary, one assistant and changing interns. The general secretary comes from Germany, studied media studies. She has already been involved into cross-border cooperation when she was working for QuattroPole (a city network). She’s also been working for the Goethe Institut (a german institution based in several countries) and for tv and broadcasting companies. She has a wide experience in the online communication field and with social media campaigns. The current assistant, comes from Paris and studied project management. She has a lot of experience and was a volunteer in Luxembourg in 2007. She’s available to all the questions a volunteer may have. As regards the interns, they come from all parts of the GR. Their various experiences and approaches bring the association stimulus. The 2 persons from the permanent staff are under 30. The volunteers will then be collaborating with a really young staff. The regional coordinators network is a solid team, that meets often. Interpreters help them understand each other on those meetings. The regional coordinators have a deep knowledge about culture and their region, that they bring into this cooperation. The members of the board are also well aware of the activities of the volunteers. And they support their activities. In this way the volunteers have a strong and sustainable supervision and mentoring team on which they can rely.
