The project space A und V in Leipzig, Lindenau, exists since 2008 as a non-commercial organisation. It is organized by artists, mediators and educators. The project space is meant to be a place for experimenting and as a connecting point.
Collaborative concepts are one focus of A und V. That means, that A und V is aiming on cooperations among artists, with other artspaces and networks, as well as with partners of the socio-political field. The diverse approaches of the different participants form the special and various program of A und V.
The association organizes mainly projects with the support of the cultural council, the institute for foreign affairs and the Kunstfond. The funding is always project-based. Our voluntary and non- paid engagement is fundamental for formation of A und Vs broad and extensive program. Ideas for exhibitions can be proposed by anyone and can be realized without pressure.
A und V is a member of the network of independent art spaces in Leipzig Lindenau, a network consisting out of 15 artspaces, which are situated in the district. In this frame we organize yearly the art-space-weekend LINDENOW. Beside this event the network also became engaged in city politics and development, to promote their interests and ideas. Discussions about gentrification are organized, artistic protests take place and public relations concerning the cultural politics of the city were established.
Since 2011 we are working in the field of education. 13 members are working voluntarily. The shared office is working for 35/h weekly. Other contacts are present in the same house as their studios and offices are situated there.
The EVS-project of A und V is about the planning and the realisation of artistic and socio-cultural projects. In our activities we focus on exhibitions, cultural events, political education projects with young people and
various cooperation projects with initiatives of the socio-political field.
These projects happen in consideration of social, historical and cultural circumstances
(such as theming of precarious forms of work in today's society or the confrontation with the past of the Nazi period in Germany) and are aimed to encourage the participation of young people in society, as well as the promotion of european understanding. The space A and V is involved in various initiatives in Leipzig-Lindenau district, making cultural, political, and social work. The volunteer gets the opportunity to participate in these initiatives and gets thereby a very diverse insight into the various activities related to our project area and the district. The project seeks to integrate the interests of the volunteers and incorporate them into our team.
The volunteers can participate in all the activities of our facility. He/she can contribute in the support of exhibitions, the conducting of events and workshops, with assisting with public relations and the participation in
district-based network meetings and activities.

Der Projektraum A und V in Leipzig Lindenau besteht seit 2008 und wird als gemeinnütziger Verein von Künstler_innen, Kunstvermittler_innen und Grafiker_nnen gemeinschaftlich betrieben. Der nichtkommerzielle Projektraum versteht sich als Experimentierfläche und Schnittstelle. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf kollaborativen Konzepten. Dies sind Kooperationen von einzelnen Künstler_innen, Projekte mit anderen Kunsträumen im Rahmen von Netzwerken, sowie die Zusammenarbeit mit Partner_innen und Initiativen des gesellschaftlich-politischen Feldes. Die unterschiedlichen künstlerischen Ansätze der einzelnen Akteure ergeben das spezielle und vielfältige Programm des A und V.
Der Verein organisiert vor allem Projekte mit Unterstützung des Kulturamtes, des Instituts für Auslandsbeziehungen, des Kunstfonds und politischer Bildungsträger.
Die Förderung erhalten wir projektbezogen. Maßgeblich für das Zustandekommen des umfangreichen Programms ist das ehrenamtliche Engagement der Betreiber_innen. Der Ausstellungsraum bietet vor allem Nachwuchskünstler_innen die Möglichkeit ihre ersten Erfahrungen im Ausstellungsraum, mit Einzelausstellungen bzw. Diplomausstellungen zu machen. Die Künstler_innen schlagen eine Ausstellungsidee vor und können diese dann selbstständig und ohne Leistungsdruck umsetzen. Für jede Beteiligte steht hierfür eine Person des Vereins Pate über den Zeitraum der Zusammenarbeit.
A und V ist Mitglied des Netzwerkes unabhängiger KunsträumeLindenau, einem Zusammenschluss, dem fünfzehn weitere Kunsträume im Stadtteil angehören. In diesem Rahmen organisieren wir seit 2008 den Kunstraum-Rundgang LINDENOW.
Neben dem gemeinsam veranstalteten Rundgang ist das Netzwerk inzwischen zu einer Arbeitsgemeinschaft geworden, die auch Themen wie Stadtteilentwicklung und Kulturpolitik thematisiert. Dieses Engagement im Stadtteil reicht von Diskussionsveranstaltungen zu Gentrifizierung über künstlerischen Protestaktionen bis hin zu kulturpolitischer Öffentlichkeitsarbeit.
