A szervezet leírása

Don Bosco Youth Centre is a Social Services Provider, legalized as such in 1998 by Junta de Castilla y León, which carries out an extensive project of community development and socio-educational intervention in the area of Armunia (in the suburbs of León city), especially with children and young people since 1980. In this area, the Youth Association develops its work, which, over time, has received an important and positive response by the neighborhood, changing thoughtout the time, from its section of social programs to become one of the most important missions social programs provider.

The aims of the association are:

- Promoting youth associations and the empowerment of children by themselves, adolescents and young people in the activities.
- Creating a space of education in the free time, promoting human values such as tolerance or respect, providing services for a better quality of life for children and young people: Information, resources, educational and social activities, leisure time ...etc.
- Offering to the children, adolescents and young people a space and a place of welcome that promotes the exchange of concerns and experiences, as well as their integral training in a cheerful, peaceful and festive atmosphere, through the educational work in the free time according to the style of Don Bosco.
- Enabling the access of children, adolescents and young people to a big sociocultural offer.
- Carrying out projects of socio-cultural development and socio-educational intervention for children and young people.
- Promoting awareness, information, guiding and training programs for volunteers.

We are also members of:

- Federation of Don Bosco Youth Centres from Castilla y León (which is represented in the Youth Council of Castilla y Leon and in the Don Bosco Youth Centres Confederation in Spain).
- Leon Volunteer Platform.
- Local Youth Council of León.
- Town Council for Children and Adolescents.

Don Bosco de León Youth Information Point is included within the Youth Information Network of the Youth Institute of Castilla y León.

The youth centre has developed along these years, an important number of social services such as prevention of youth delinquency, promotion of young people employment, training of volunteers and being a place of a social resources store for the neighborhood.
