Outward Bound Germany (OBD) is a non-profit educational organization based in Schwangau, Bavaria, and part of the global Outward Bound International network. OBD helps people discover and develop their potential, take responsibility for themselves, others, and the environment through safe yet challenging experiences in nature. With decades of experience in experiential and outdoor education, OBD is one of Germany’s leading providers of learning through adventure. Our programs serve children, youth, teachers, young professionals, and organizations, reaching several thousand participants each year. Activities include outdoor courses, class trips, and team trainings that focus on leadership, teamwork, self-confidence, and environmental awareness. Mountains, forests, rivers, and lakes become our classrooms—where participants face physical, social, and emotional challenges, fostering resilience, empathy, and cooperation. OBD runs the International Youth and Education Center in Schwangau, offering facilities and access to the Bavarian Alps. Our team of 25 experienced trainers delivers programs in German and English, ensuring professional safety standards and intercultural learning.
