The association of citizens for treatment of persons with autism, ADHD and Asperger syndrome IN MY WORLD is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2011 by Vesna and Zlatko Stojanovski who have a nephew with ASD (autistic syndrome disorder) in order to connect with families with this issue, learn the best practices and therapies, share the knowledge and raise awareness for this disorder and provide better inclusion in the all aspects of social life for this marginalized category of citizens. The target group are the persons with autism, ADHD and Asperger syndrome and their closer family, aiming to raise awareness about this disorder, inclusion of these persons in the social life, provide best practices and better education for the experts and people involved in treatment and dealing with this category of citizens as well as opening daily care centers where they can get the necessary attention. The association also strives to improve the legislative and social rights of the persons with autistic syndrome disorder so they can enjoy equal rights in the society and not to be marginalized.
The association started with raising the awareness about autistic syndrome disorders in Macedonian society since autism was unknown subject among the citizens. By creating campaigns, organizing public event, workshops, seminars and connecting the families with autism together the association involved significant number of people of different sectors: busyness companies, political and social, artists, university professors and students, media, health workers and experts as well as encouraged the families with autistic persons to step out and share their story. Connecting and networking with these subjects of the society produced cooperation and support for the families in donations, therapies, seminars and workshops how to deal with the problem and the latest scientific facts. The association provides foreign experts for trainings for the students and the experts of the country to broaden their knowledge and skills in the most used therapies, 2-3 times per year, which was the first time in Macedonia of this type.
The association also celebrates every year the 2nd of April, the International day of autism involving local celebrities and authorities together with the children and families and the activities continue through whole month with workshops, debates, media coverage and experts discussions. IN MY WORLD included Macedonia in the world campaign “Light it up blue “by lightening a monument in blue light for the International day of autism every year. With cooperation with local musicians, the association created the popular Anthem of autism song. One of the main objectives of the association was opening Daily Care Centers for autistic persons. The first one was realized with cooperation of the government when the association gave its expert opinion and ideas for the Center. In 2016 IN MY WORLD opened a private Daily Center for autistic children in cooperation with the local authorities, busyness sector and foreign official representatives which we consider as our high achievement in the efforts to help the target group.
