Opis organizácie

The Children’s Club Lugoj was founded on 30 April, 1953 and was called “The Pioneers’ House”.
At the beginning, the pioneers’ houses were conceived as centres for the non-formal education of primary and lower secondary school children.
The data we possess show that the highest number of clubs – 26, coordinated by 16 teachers was registered in the 1970s. The clubs were the following: accordion, bugle, car building, motoring, model ship sailing, radio, electronics, aesthetics, model aircraft making, photo and film club, weaving, sewing, drama, stamp collecting, choreography, judo, shooting, cyclotourism, marching band, engraving, sculpting, rocket building, machine weaving, instrumental ensemble, pops orchestra, the “Ion Vidu” children’s choir.
In 1971, the Executive Committee of the Lugoj Popular Council decided that the “Cornet” Cabin should be taken under the management of the Pioneers’ House. The “Cornet” Cabin was renovated with their own material and human resources. Another wing was built and it thus became an ideal place to run summer camps. Unfortunately, on 23 March 1990, the “Cornet – Nadrag” camp was given to the Timis County School Inspectorate, the Camp Administration.
Starting with the 1990 – 1991 school year, the institution changed its name into the Children’s and School Children’s Club. A lot of the clubs names and contents were changed as well. During the following years, as a normal result of the evolution and changes of our society, some clubs disappeared: bugles, car building, machine weaving, motoring and others showed up: computer science, English culture and civilization, journalism.
In 2006, the institution was named its current name: The Children’s Club, and it runs in 3 buildings renovated or built between 2005 and 2009. The gates of the Children’s Club Lugoj are open to all children who are passionate, talented and eager to prove themselves.
The children who come to register to these clubs are driven by their passion for a certain field or curiosity to learn something new.
Considering it is not compulsory to attend the course a certain number of years, there are no grades (the competition takes other forms), the children come here for fun. The timetable is after school and during the holidays. They may choose from a variety of cultural, artistic, techno-scientific or sports clubs such as: meteorology-tourism, computer science, volleyball, the fantasy workshop, modern dance, instrumental and vocal music, painting, drama, English culture and civilization. In addition, there are camps, summer schools, contests and exchange programmes during the holidays.
