Tallinnś Kikas Kindergarten is a municipality kindergarten in Tallinn. It is located in a part of Tallinn named Mustamäe, were you can easily reach to city center. Mustamäe is nice green and safe district which has university TalTech, its own cinema, spa, many sports centers and supermarkets itself. So many things to do with your free time as a young person.

Tallinnś Kikas Kindergarten has 10 groups where pre-school education is given for children aged 2 to 7. Every group has two teachers. We have special teacher for the music and sport activities. All together there are 22 teachers and 10 other employees.

Working hours of the groups are 7.00- 19.00. Food is provided to children three times per day, after lunch is nap time. For a small amount of money the same lunch can be provided to volunteer. Lessons take place in each group as regular activities, also games, art, music, indoor and outdoor sport activities. Activities (turns in week): -listening and speaking; - observing and exploring; - reading and writing; - comparing, calculating; -music; -physical education; -visual arts (modelling, painting). We consider important to develop necessary emotional and social qualities that are useful in children’s life (like love, empathy, self-control, friendliness, kindness) through the program "Free of Bullying" in kindergarten.

Our kindergarten has many nice traditional events for children and employees from where the volunteer can take part . In fall there is Teacher's Day when we visit museums and have dinner all together and kindergarten birthday party. In winter we celebrate Christmas with children concert to parents with the real Santa Claus. Springtime we have theater festival when teachers or older children make theater. And also outdoor activities, hikes and picnics with children and parents.



Proposed activities :

The main task is to assist the teacher in the everyday work. But we strongly encourage our volunteer to bring something from her/him or hers/hims home country to our activities. So when the volunteer is willing she/he can give a little art/sport/dance/ect lesson to the children him/herself. As we have children in different ages in our kindergarten, the volunteer can practice the work with 3 year old and also older 6-7 year old.

This year we have a very wonderful group of children in our group. We have 14 sweet girls and 4 curious boys. So if you are good in braiding hair and pretending to be a princess you are perfect for us :)

Main tasks are following:

– participate and help teachers in lessons or in games (playtime) with children,

– prepare (or help to prepare) lessons and materials for activities,

– help our music teacher in music lessons: she/he can bring songs, games and sometimes teach simple

songs in her/his language,

– help to prepare festivals or holidays and exhibitions: teach songs, dances and drama. The exhibitions

about her/his country,

– could be organizing for teachers different events, such as culture clubs.
