A szervezet leírása

Iniciativa Periferia is a project of independent people who came together in 2017 to promote social equality. Diversity, commitment, horizontality and social justice are the backbone of our project. Initiative Periphery is constituted as a non-profit, nonpartisan and independent association, and which has no link with any political, academic, business or union organization.

The purposes that structure our activity are: the awareness of the reality of the groups at risk of social exclusion, through their visualization; the empowerment of these people, encouraging participation in associations and their own initiatives; and social inclusion, understood in a positive way and in a constant and bidirectional experience.
Our target group is any person who, due to their sociocultural characteristics, can be included as a member of a group that is structurally in a disadvantageous position in the distribution of vital opportunities. In particular, due mainly to the specialization of the members of the organization and the current situation, our work is focusing on the group of migrated people residing in Spain.
In order to fulfill our purposes, we carry out a series of activities. We pursue the visualization of the situation of migrants through workshops in institutes, vocational training centers and cultural centers; the activities are carried out with non-formal methods of education, in which migrated people have an active role and are the protagonists. To show these realities, we focused the workshops on two: "country of origin + migratory route" and "experience in the host society".

In addition, to fulfill this purpose, we also organize events in the Human Library format, programmed together with other larger events such as local festivals, several thematic days, etc. (For more information about the Human Library: http://humanlibrary.org/)
We have weaved networks with other local associations. In addition to the neighborhood association of La Nueva Elipa, a neighborhood in which we carry out part of our activity, we are carrying out specific activities with the Scout groups of the area.

We are also developing a guide of available resources for migrants with the intention that they can easily acquire information about educational options, leisure and free time, social work and any other need they may have. In this line, we also carry out personal consultation tasks, especially when it comes to people who do not speak the Spanish language, as well as accompaniments. In addition, we offer free legal advice to people with a lack of financial resources provided by one of our founding partners; it is a pilot project that we are implementing, mainly, to defend the rights of migrants and the housing rights of all citizens, as set forth in Article 47 of the Spanish Constitution.

Finally, we would like to highlight the intention to include migrants of origin in our project, since they are the ones who can contribute most to our mission. The final objective is to create participatory dynamics that encourage associationism among the people of this group.


Iniciativa Periferia es un proyecto de personas independientes que se unieron en 2017 a fin de promover la igualdad social. La diversidad, el compromiso, la horizontalidad y la justicia social constituyen los ejes vertebradores de nuestro proyecto. Iniciativa Periferia está constituida como asociación sin ánimo de lucro apartidista e independiente, y que no tiene ningún vínculo con ninguna organización política, académica, empresarial ni sindical.

Los propósitos que vertebran nuestra actividad son: la concienciación de la realidad de los colectivos en riesgo de exclusión social, a través de su visualización; el empoderamiento de estas personas, fomentando la participación en asociaciones y sus iniciativas propias; y la inclusión social, entendida de una forma positiva y en una experiencia constante y bidireccional.

Nuestro grupo objetivo es cualquier persona que, por sus particularidades socioculturales, pueda ser incluida como miembro de un grupo que se encuentra estructuralmente en una posición desventajosa en el reparto de oportunidades vitales. En concreto, debido principalmente a la especialización de los miembros de la organización y a la situación actual, nuestro trabajo se está enfocando hacia el colectivo de personas migradas que residen en España.

Con el fin de satisfacer nuestros propósitos, llevamos a cabo una serie de actividades. Perseguimos la visualización de la situación de las personas migrantes a través de talleres en institutos, centro de formación profesional y centro culturales; las actividades se ejecutan con métodos no formales de educación, en las cuales personas migradas tienen un papel activo y de protagonistas. Para dar a conocer estas realidades, centramos los talleres en dos: “país de origen + ruta migratorio” y “experiencia en la sociedad de acogida”.
Además, para cumplir este propósito, también organizamos eventos en formato de Biblioteca Humana, programados junto a otros eventos de mayor tamaño tales como fiestas locales, jornadas de temáticas varias, etc. (Para más información acerca de la Biblioteca Humana: http://humanlibrary.org/)

Hemos tejido redes con otras asociaciones locales. Además de la asociación de vecinos de La Nueva Elipa, barrio en que realizamos parte de nuestra actividad, estamos llevando a cabo actividades puntuales con los grupos Scouts de la zona.

Estamos desarrollando, igualmente, una guía de recursos disponibles para migrantes con la intención de que pueda adquirir información fácilmente sobre opciones educativas, de ocio y tiempo libre, obras sociales y cualquier otra necesidad que puedan tener. En esta línea, también llevamos a cabo labores de consulta personal, más aún cuándo se trata de personas que no dominen la lengua castellana, así como acompañamientos. Además, ofrecemos asesoramiento jurídico gratuito a personas con falta de recursos económicos provisto por uno de nuestros socios fundadores; se trata de un proyecto piloto que estamos implantando, principalmente, para defender los derechos de los migrantes y el derechos a la vivienda de todos y todas los/as ciudadanos/as, tal y como queda recogido en el Artículo 47 de la Constitución Española.

Por último, reseñar la intención de ir incluyendo a personas de origen migrantes en nuestro proyecto pues son ellos quienes más pueden aportar a nuestra misión. El objetivo final es crear dinámicas participativas que fomenten el asociacionismo entre las personas de este colectivo.
