LKJ Thüringen e.V. is a statewide operating NGO which is specialized in the topic of cultural youth education in the state of Thuringia. As an umbrella organization for 34 members we speak for more than 1100 associations based in Thuringia such as choirs and music associations, media, youth circuses, youth theater, dance associations, memorial places and other youth educational organisations. We offer different services for our members like support for project promotion, newsletters, lobbying and further training for professionals. We organize conferences and collaborate with politicians, public administration and civil society.
Furthermore, we realize a variety of educational and democracy promoting projects. In order to achieve this we cooperate with schools, youth centers and similiar institutions. One of our main projects is a voluntary service for young people aged 16 to 27 years and for adults in cultural organisations such as theatres, museums, cultural centres or foundations in Thuringia.
We promote cultural education in general and take a stand for an open and diverse society. Our aim is to enable cultural education for all children and young people in Thuringia. This is seen as a means to acquire key competencies and to strengthen the development of individual personalities so children and young people can participate self-confidently and actively in our society.
The activities of the volunteer are mainly going to take place within the field of cultural management and public relations. The volunteer also has the opportunity to participate in the projects of the LKJ, e.g. support workshops for vocational orientation in schools and thus gaining experience in education.
