kitev (Kultur im Turm e.V.) is a cultural and social innovation organization based in Oberhausen, Germany, dedicated to artistic experimentation, urban regeneration, and social inclusion. Founded in 2006, kitev is headquartered in the historic water tower of Oberhausen’s central train station, which has become a dynamic hub for artistic creation, intercultural dialogue, and community-driven initiatives.
Our multidisciplinary team includes artists, architects, cultural managers, and social innovators who work together to transform urban spaces, empower migrant communities, and foster artistic collaboration across borders. kitev plays a key role in the local and European cultural landscape by implementing large-scale Erasmus+ projects, grassroots community-building initiatives, and cross-sectoral cultural interventions.
Our mission is to redefine public spaces as inclusive, creative environments that bridge social and cultural divides. We believe in the power of art and participation to bring people together, foster mutual understanding, and create a sense of belonging.
As a Supporting Organization within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), we are committed to empowering young people, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, by offering them meaningful international volunteering opportunities. We provide comprehensive pre-departure preparation, mentorship, and intercultural training to ensure a successful and enriching experience. Through our work, we strive to make international mobility accessible and transformative for all young people, equipping them with valuable skills and fostering their active participation in society.

kitev (Kultur im Turm e.V.) ist eine kulturelle und soziale Innovationsorganisation mit Sitz in Oberhausen, Deutschland. Unser Fokus liegt auf künstlerischer Experimentation, urbaner Transformation und sozialer Inklusion. Seit der Gründung im Jahr 2006 hat sich unser Standort – der historische Wasserturm im Hauptbahnhof Oberhausen – zu einem lebendigen Zentrum für künstlerische Produktion, interkulturellen Austausch und gemeinschaftliche Initiativen entwickelt.
Unser interdisziplinäres Team aus Künstler:innen, Architekt:innen, Kulturmanager:innen und sozialen Innovator:innen arbeitet daran, urbane Räume neu zu gestalten, migrantische Gemeinschaften zu stärken und internationale künstlerische Kooperationen zu ermöglichen. kitev ist sowohl auf lokaler als auch auf europäischer Ebene aktiv und setzt groß angelegte Erasmus+-Projekte, partizipative Stadtentwicklungsprojekte und kulturübergreifende Interventionen um.
Unser Ziel ist es, öffentliche Räume neu zu definieren – als inklusive, kreative Orte, die soziale und kulturelle Grenzen überwinden. Wir sind überzeugt, dass Kunst und Partizipation Menschen verbinden, Verständnis fördern und Zugehörigkeit schaffen können.
Als Supporting Organisation im Europäischen Solidaritätskorps (ESC) setzen wir uns besonders für benachteiligte junge Menschen ein, indem wir ihnen bedeutungsvolle internationale Freiwilligeneinsätze ermöglichen. Wir bieten umfassende Vorbereitung, Mentoring und interkulturelle Schulungen, um sicherzustellen, dass ihre Erfahrungen im Ausland bereichernd und erfolgreich sind. Durch unsere Arbeit machen wir internationale Mobilität für alle jungen Menschen zugänglich und nachhaltig, indem wir ihnen wertvolle Kompetenzen vermitteln und ihre aktive gesellschaftliche Teilhabe stärken.
