Opis organizácie

Association for circus pedagogy – Cirkokrog is a voluntary, independent, non-governmental association with non-profit goals and brings together professionals and other individuals who engage in circus activities that encourage creative expression, a sense of connection and collaboration, education, training, empowerment, promotion, risk prevention, assistance and activation of children, youth and other groups. The association develops circus pedagogy as a form of pedagogical and social work and informal education of children, young people and adults, focusing also on various vulnerable groups. Since 2005, we have been conducting circus-pedagogical workshops adapted to different groups of children and young people. The workshops are adapted to different environments and circumstances.

The main aim of the association is to implement and develop practical forms of work of circus-pedagogical projects and programs for children and youth, marginalized and vulnerable groups and to develop other related projects of inclusive nature.

Additionally, the tasks and objectives of the association:

    • implementation of various circus-pedagogical projects and programs;
    • performing circus shows and performances;
    • supporting youth, circus and theater productions;
    • promoting and conducting children's and youth circus festivals;
    • developing and implementing models of field and street work;
    • developing work models in the form of a daily, youth or family community center;
    • promoting the inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups and individuals in circus education programs;
    • implementation of circus-pedagogical programs and projects for socially disadvantaged, vulnerable, marginalized, socially excluded groups (social circus);
    • developing and implementing children's, youth, community and social circus projects, programs and programs;
    • acting in the field of social protection;
    • acting in the field of quality leisure and promoting a healthy lifestyle;
    • organizing and conducting camps and workshops in the field of the association's activities;
    • developing methods and techniques of practical circus-pedagogical work;
    • developing professional and scientific starting points for circus pedagogy;
    • training members and outsiders to work in the field of the association's operations;
    • organizing professional meetings and forms of further training
    • developing cooperation between domestic and international institutions and organizations engaged in circus pedagogy or other forms of social pedagogical work;
    • to enable members of the association to gain experience in the field of operation of the association for future career guidance.

We regularly conduct year-round workshops with young people and children:

    • weekly open workshops at the Jarše Youth Center
    • weekly thematic workshops and training of volunteers and youth workers at the Faculty of Education (bringing together students, youth workers, students)
    • weekly educational workshops and open training at the Faculty of Educationž
    • continuous weekly workshops at Livada Elementary School
  • weekly circus workshops at the Asylum Center in Vič, Ljubljana

For many years, as well as in the last year, we also carry out continuous sets of workshops with young people and children

    • Street Circus Program, JSS residential complexes in Polje, sets of street workshops (social and aconomical disadvantage groups)
    • Different social circus (for instance circus-pedagogical workshops for the project Strengthening the Psychosocial Well-Being of Children from Ukraine and Health Rehabilitation of Children from Belarus, project in children home MD Malči Beličeve) 
    • Different sets of circus-pedagogical and movement workshops at different elementary schools
    • Street work as part of the Young Street Network project (MMU)
    • Various projects and sets of workshops in ČMC Bežigrad

In addition, we conduct different individual workshops at different festivals, events and youth organizations to which we are invited (20 - 40 workshops a year). We are also active annually in fieldwork in terms of circus markets and street actions (7 - 15 times a year). Almost every year, we also organize and conduct training and education for students, educators and youth workers. We also conduct educational workshops on the theory and practice of circus pedagogy. And organize a short and intense training of basic circus pedagogy. As well as short training courses in cooperation with other organizations (also on international level). We are also active at the international level. We organize international youth exchanges, as well as send our members to other international activities. We participate in the in the EYCO European Youth Circus umbrella network and CARAVAN network (network of youth and social circus) and various international strategic partnerships.
