Das aktuelle forum (af) will die demokratische Gesellschaft stärken und weiterentwickeln. Das af ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein der politischen Bildung. Es ist dem Leitmotiv aus seiner Entstehungszeit „Mehr Demokratie wagen“ verpflichtet. In Veranstaltungen und Projekten stellen wir uns kontroversen Themen aus Politik, Kultur und Gesellschaft. Wir engagieren uns für mehr soziale Gerechtigkeit. Im Ruhrgebiet verwurzelt arbeiten wir landesweit und international. Als dynamischer Träger arbeitet das af mit innovativen Methoden. Wir denken quer, durchbrechen Gewohntes, verbinden Welten und ermöglichen Dialoge.
Das aktuelle forum als Träger der politischen Jugend- und Erwachsenenbildung und Träger der Jugendhilfe engagiert sich seit 1968 in der politischen Bildung. Neben klassischer Seminararbeit nach dem Weiterbildungsgesetz NRW und Durchführung von durch die Bundeszentrale politischer Bildung geförderten Seminaren, engagiert sich das aktuelle forum seit vielen Jahren in Projekten, welche sowohl bundesweit als auch im gesamten europäischen Raum stattfinden.

Aktuelles forum e.V. is a recognized management agency for further political education and training. It was founded in 1968 to offer a forum for political discussions opened for all. In seminars and projects we talk about controversial issues of politics, society and culture. Aktuelles forums’s work stands for diminishing social inequalities through empowerment of participation for all citizens, support of the integration of migrants and fight racial, sexist or sexual prejudices. We are committed to social justice and more democracy.
Aktuelles forum isn´t party-politically oriented and is a registered non-profit-organization for civic education. Rooted in the Ruhr area in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, we work nationally and internationally for a European dialogue und understanding.
In seminars and projects we talk about controversial issues of politics, society and culture. The main focus of our work lies in organizing projects, conferences, seminars and educational holidays with socially, politically or societally relevant topics. One important aim among others of our work is participation and empowerment of migrants and deprived adolescents and adults, who we reach with diversified methods and innovative ways of teaching. One matter of concern is development of media competence, especially the internet, to enable our participants to deal with new media. Another matter of concern is the equality between men and women, which we promote with special seminars for women with or without a migrant background.
