Opis organizácie

Siauliai Youth Technical Centre (SJTC) is and Educational public organisation, established by the Municipality of City Siauliai. It is only institution in the City with a broad range of educational activities for kids: starting with a pre-school education and up to secondary school.

The mission of the SJTC is to create innovative and multifunctional environment to sustainably develop future personalities – kids and young people.

The main aim of STJC to inspire the interest of kids and young people in STEAM education and STEAM professions. To achieve this goal we apply the Play-based learning where kids and young people can practically experience what Science, technology Engineering, Arts, Maths are. We work through hands-on learning approach and make kids during activities connect their experiences to real world practices, explore it and transform in order to open new possibilities.

We also base our education on non-formal education principles - involving not only academic development but also applying competence based learning - emotions and skills. in other words:

1. Holistic view – In other words the learning process applies of 3 main dimensions (mind, body and feelings). Due to this multidimensional approach the learning becomes necessarily holistic.
2. Experiential learning - the workshops are followed by one of the major elements of non-formal education - "learning by doing". The Centre is foreseen as a practical field for participants to experiment. This part becomes an essential one, when speaking about the learning process, because it helps to see not only the practical side that leads to reflection, but also makes participants to "feel" what they have experienced.
3. Participant centered/group-centered learning - element foresees the self-directed learning and learning from a group. All participants together become a field where every individual can learn from and with each other with a support of a teacher.
4. Specific environment - during the learning process participants are in need to have a safe place where they can experiment and try out themselves with no fear to hurt no one. Our renewed building gives this opportuity.
5. Open, informal and equal communication - non-formal learning foresees a safety environment where everyone can be open and equal to one another, no matter what the personal background is.
