Markkuun Seudun Kyläyhdistys is a non-profit, non-governmental local association, which operates for the benefit of Markkuu village in Tyrnävä, Finland. The people of our village are active and eager to do voluntary work, so practically everything we do is done by volunteers, active villagers. We develop our village all the time and are open for new ideas.
Versatile nature is a big strength of Markkuu village. Our 10 km long Markkuu nature trail goes through fabulous spruce forests, meadows and beautiful river banks. At times the path goes through pine forests which are full of lingonberries and blueberries. Along the trail there are two campfire places in where you can rest and eat your packed lunch. We have also a very popular and nice swimming place with sandy beach, campfire place and a frisbeegolf course. Maintaining these recreational areas and repearing different structures on those areas are the main activities of our association. On top of this, we arrange different events, that are open to all and usually also free of charge. On weekly basis we arrange activities for children and sports activities for adults. Also young adults in our village participate in arranging different activities.
