A szervezet leírása

Gavoi is a charming town of about 2,500 inhabitants located in the heart of Sardinia, protected by mountains and embraced by Gusana lake, rivers and forests. Its city center is enriched by flower-filled balconies, from which, once a year, during the literary festival "L’Isola delle Storie" (The Island of stories), writers, players, musicians and journalists from all over the world perform and talk with the audience.
In this village of stone houses, with their snow-covered roofs in the wintertime, people can enjoy the splendid valley of holm oaks, chestnut, walnut and cherry trees and can taste the delicacies and admire the excellent artisan products.
Gavoi has been recognized as a 'slow food' presidium, for its famous Fiore Sardo pecorino cheese PDO.

The Municipality of Gavoi represents the community, composed of women and men with equal dignity, equal rights and duties, takes care of their interests and promotes their development. It also promotes the exercise of rights by individuals and social groups and the fulfilment of the essential duties of solidarity, within the framework of constitutional principles.
In cooperation with other bodies, institutions and stakeholders participates in the development of Barbagia, the province of Nuoro and Sardinia Region.

The Municipality of Gavoi recognizes peace, respect and promotion of human rights as fundamental rights of individuals. It recognises and protects the freedom of union between persons, without discrimination of race, sex and religion.

Gavoi Municipality’s aims and tasks are, among others: promoting cultural, artistic and sport activities; ensuring right to education; fostering the sustainable development (social and economic), fostering youth exchanges and activities. The Municipality of Gavoi consists of 4 Services: administrative, technical, economic financial and socio-cultural services. The latter promotes solidarity, social cohesion and citizenship. Among its tasks and aims: promotion and organization of celebrations and events; management of the Library and sport facilities; creation and implementation of cultural initiatives for young people and for the community; creation of conditions for the protection, production and use of cultural heritage; life-long learning initiaves.
