A szervezet leírása

Dundaga children`s day centre “Home” located in the “Little School” has been in function for 16 years already. It is the specifics of the area around Dundaga for the children to have to wait for their parents or public transport to bring them home several km from the centre of Dundaga. Thus, the services of the day centre “Home” are of great importance.
“Home” provides for safe, creative Christian-value-based environment for children aged 6-12 to participate in after-school activities. On average, it has been attended by more than 40 children daily.

Dundaga children`s day centre “Home” is a place:
• to feel welcome;
• to have a rest after a long day at school having a cup of tea with friends, playing board games, novuss, watching films;
• to enjoy creative work with paper, paints, pebbles and everything else in the surroundings;
• to master useful life skills;
• to learn to communicate with peers and trust adults.

The objectives of the organisation are as follows:
• to create safe environment based on christian values in Dundaga for children to contribute to their physical and mental development;
• to develop children`s creativity by forming various groups of interest free of charge;
• to involve and support families with children by organising courses to improve their socialising skills;
• to help children form their civic awareness;
• to draw the attention of the society, state and local government institutions to children`s problems;
• to develop collaboration with other organisations, entrepreneurs, state and local government institutions.

The organisation successfully collaborates with Dundaga Municipality, Slitere National Park and Talsi Municipality Foundation. It has also entered organisations like “North Kurzeme Business Association” and “Kurzeme NGO Centre”.
The organisation has actively participated in various projects e.g., “Centre of Children`s Environmental Education “Pooh`s School”” supported by the Environmental Protection Foundation of Latvia, a project co-financed by European Rural development foundation “A simple reconstruction and improvement of the playroom of Dundaga Children`s day centre “Home”, a project facilitated by Boriss and Inara`s Teterevi Foundation “Let`s Unite the Big and the Small!” opening a club for young mothers.
As part of an ESF project “Support for the education of the unemplyed”, the organisation has given an opportunity to two local unemployed youngsters to develop the working skills necessary for the non-government sector.
